Join us during the upcoming Black Moon as we celebrate Samhain! Enjoy a nighttime Samhain ritual in the woods, community stew, impromptu workshops, and fellowship with your community! This camping trip is very family-style: We have a group camping site reserved at Moraine View, food and drink are often shared, and camping is close together.
We will have an Ancestors Altar available this year. You may place photos of Ancestors, tokens of remembrance at the alter. Tea-light candles will be available to light for ancestors. You may leave offerings for them as well. Any items remaining at the close of the event will be left as offerings for the Ancestors.
Friday evening meal will be chili (we will have a meat chili and a veggie chili). Saturday evening we will be sharing community stew. Please bring along an ingredient for the stew, Ideas for ingredients are: root or other vegetables (no onions please! We have a member with allergies), stew meats, beans, pasta, canned tomatoes, etc. We will have a community stew for vegetarians as well! 1-2 cups of your ingredient is plenty! We will also have a community snack table and would like to keep a couple pots of hot drinks going: please consider bringing apple cider, hot beverage drink mixes (hot cocoa, tea, etc), or snacks to share. If you are unable to contribute to the community food, you are still welcome to join us & partake. We do not *ever* want to leave anyone out due to their inability to pay!
Main ritual will be Saturday night, after dark. If you are planning on coming only to the ritual, please join us as early as possible to meet others and foster a sense of community with all participants. For main ritual you may need a flashlight and you will need to dress for the weather (prepare to be in the woods, away from fire– lots of layers, warm socks, and boots are suggested). If you would like to bring a staff or walking stick to help you navigate the terrain in the dark, you are welcome to do so. Main ritual is not suggested for those with mobility issues or for children under the age of 13. If you have mobility issues and would like to participate, please contact us directly. Once you are registered, you will receive an email with details on how to prepare for ritual.
The cost for weekend camping is $25 per person (13 & up), and $5 per child ages 3-12. Children under 3 are free. Cost for ritual only is $5 per person. Cost for the weekend will cover campsite fees, evening meals, and ritual. More information as it becomes available.
